How do I start a synchronization?
First of all you must have configured your mobile phone for synchronization with Web2Phone. Go to the Phones tab after logging in, add your phone and then press the 'Send Setup' button. You will now receive a Web2Phone synchronization profile on your phone. If you have a recent Sony Ericsson or Nokia S60 Series phone you may start synchronizing bt pressing the 'Synchronize' button for the respective phone. For other phones synchronization must be started from the phone. How this is done may vary from phone to phone, nut nomally you will find Synchronization under the Settings, Communication or Organizer menus. Please refer to the user manual for your mobile phone for a detailed description. Synchronizing with Web2Phone is initiated by choosing the profile Web2Phone.
Most Sony Ericsson phones support scheduled synchronizing with Web2Phone. This can be configured in the settings for Web2Phone on phone. Nokia phones do not have this possibility.
On most phones you may add personal short cuts to easily access synchronize from the main menu. Please refer to your phone's user manual for a detailed description to how this is done.
How do I synchronize between several phones?
You may add as many phones as you like to the same user profile on Web2Phone. This is done under the Phones tab. A synchronize profile must be sent out to all registered phones. The phones may either have the same or different phone number/SIM card.
If you add a contact to a phone, synchronize this phone with Web2Phone and then synchronize another phone with the same user account this contact will be transferred to the second phone.
Can I configure the Web2Phone service manually on my mobile phone?
At the moment it is not possible to configure the service manually on the mobile phone, hence you can not use the Web2Phone service if your phone doesn't support automatic configuration using OTA. Web2Phone automatically generates user names and passwords upon registration of new devices. It is not possible to receive this user name and password when you configure your phone manually.
My new mobile phone is not listed as supported by Web2Phone?
It may occasionally take some time before Web2Phone supportes all of the latest mobile phones. New phones must first be tested and verified before they are entered into the system. Normally all of this will be conducted before the phone has been released in the public market, but some exceptions may occur. Web2Phone works with all phones with support for SyncML and automatic configuration using OTA.
All of my phone contacts are not visible in Web2Phone?
It is only contacts that are stored in the phone memory that will be synchronized. Contacts stored in the SIM card must first be transferred to the phone memory to be synchronized. Detailed information on how to perform this action can be found in your phone's user manual. You may also use Web2Phone for tasks, calendar items and notes. Rememeber to synchronize with Web2Phone each time you add or update a contact on your phone.
What kind of special equipment/software do I need to use Web2Phone?
All data is transferreed over the mobile network to a secure server. You do not need any special equipment, software, cables, Bluetooth/infrared or other. Web2Phone may be used with any online PC - you do not need your own PC.
With Web2Phone, being a strict web service, there are neither any requirements to operating system. Web2Phone works perfectly on both PC and Mac. Web2Phone has been developed and tested using the most common platforms and browsers. This includes the Windows, Linux and Mac oparating systems and Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari browsers.
How do I configure my phone for data connections?
Your phone must be prepared for data connections using GPRS and/or 3G to use Web2Phone. Normally your phone has been set up correctly already, but if you have changed mobile operator, SIM card or similar you may experience problems. Please contact your mobile operator for help.

Most phones wil automatically choose the data connection/profile that is configured for synchronization, though some phones may require you to choose the correct connection/profile on first time synchronization. In this case choose the same as for WAP connections. Normally this is named something with WAP, for instance 'Telenor WAP'. If this does not work you may try standard GPTS, normally named 'GPRS Internet' or 'Telenor GPRS'.
Is it safe to use Web2Phone?
Yes, it is safe to use Web2Phone. Web2Phone uses the best security mechanisms available. Your data is protected against unauthorized access - only you have acces to your data. Web2Phone is regularly backed up to secure servers to guarantee your data is never lost.
How much does it cost to use Web2Phone?
Web2Phone is free of charge. We offer free usage and free sending of synchronization profiles using SMS. Your mobile operator will charge you for the data traffic sent over their network. Please refer to their price list for price overview. Web2Phone is using the SyncML/OMA DS standard for synchronization, which as been designed to reminimize the data beeing transferred in each synchronization. The will save data traffic and reduce your costs.
